Town and County Taxes

Town and County taxes and bills are printed at the Tompkins County Assessment Department and then forwarded to the Town Clerk at the end of December. The Town Clerk sorts and mails them to property owners in Ulysses.  Property owners should notify the Town Clerk's office of any address changes to ensure proper delivery of the tax bill.

Many property owners want the amount of their tax bills prior to January 1 in order to pay them in the same calendar year.  Owners may call, email, or mail a request to the Town Clerk to determine the tax amount prior to receiving the bill if the Clerk's office has received it from the County.  (E-mail- touclerk@twcny.rr.com  or call- 607-387-5767)

The County allows property owners to pay either the full amount or the 1st Installment by January 31 (can be post marked the 31).  Penalties for delayed payment are as follows:
After January 31
a 1% penalty is added to the total of the bill,
After February a 2% penalty is added to the total of the bill
After March a 3% penalty is added to the total of the bill.

The Clerk turns over all
installment bills and payments to Tompkins County Finance until April 1. Unpaid tax bills are then turned over to Tompkins County Finance with a 5% penalty plus interest at the rate of 1%.

Tax Payments:  Make checks payable to Marsha L. Georgia, Collector. Payments may be paid in person, mailed to 10 Elm St. Trumansburg, NY 14886 or on line at www.municipal-payments.com

Tax Searches: Tax Searches are generally a part of real estate closings and indicate whether there are outstanding taxes due on property. Requests should be made a day in advance. They include, if applicable, any outstanding water charges.

Additional Copies of Bills or Receipts: Copies of bills or receipts may be requested and the Clerk’s office can e-mail, fax or mail the copies.  There is no charge for this service.  Receipts are mailed out to everyone at the time of payment.
